Visiting the Zoo – September 9

Since Norbert started his retirement in September, he got two zoo passes for the year. We are going to try (if weather permits it) once a week to visit the zoo. It’s a good walk and it’s nice to see the animals and just enjoy a few hours. The zoo is called “Espace Zoologique de St Martin la Plaine” and it’s located in Saint Martin la Plaine.

Here’s their website:

The one thing they don’t have at this zoo is a petting zoo. It has an aviary, areas where the reptiles, big cats and monkeys reside. There is a huge area where emu, kangaroos and lama’s reside. It’s a huge outdoor area where they can go, eat and hide.

At the entrance there is large area where there are various breeds of chickens. On the opposite side is a waterway for all the ducks. There is also a small frog pond.

There also seems to be a small colony of cats. They just hang around. Of course besides the zoo animals I had to take photos of the cats, various birds, insects and anything else that I found interesting to photograph.

This is an insect you don't see every day, especially at the zoo.

Then off course were the other animals such as reptiles which were hard to photograph because of the enclosures.

The easiest to photograph was the turtles of course.
Here are the many photos I took of random animals.

Is that a "blep" I see?

This big guy was coming after me!

 Yawn!
